I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Having graduated with a BA in communication from Willamette University in Salem, OR, I left my home state to complete my MA in communication at Indiana University.
With the job market nonexistent after completing my MA, I took a part-time job at a local winery and dove headfirst into the world of wine. I read any books and magazines I could get my hands on. I absorbed as much information as I could and as fast as I could. In March 2011 I passed the Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) exam through the Society of Wine Educators and Level I through the Court of Master Sommeliers. In addition to wine, I am a craft beer and tech lover. This site covers a little bit of everything: wine, craft beer, the beverage industry, social media, technology and the increasing interaction all of these have with one another. Thus far, my work has been featured on WineBusiness.com and in the journal The Information Society.
I currently live outside of Salt Lake City with my wife and two cats. In my spare time I like to visit wineries and breweries, hike, camp, read and just spend time relaxing with family.
